Recipe: Christa's Super Easy, Super Yummy, Apple Pie

Greetings All,

I have been trying to develop a new habit with the kids this summer of teaching them to cook.  I have divided up the days they are at my house and assigned them to each of them.  They get to pick the menu, shop and then cook dinner and breakfast the next morning.  Everyone has to eat it without complaint because they get to choose on their days and over all it has worked out really well.  Faith decided she wanted to cook a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, dressing and all of the sides but she decided she wanted apple instead of pumpkin pie.  I told her apple was a lot more work, but Christa offered up this simple recipe to make both of our lives a little easier and it was fabulous.  Not only was it easy to prepare, but it was also super yummy.  I post it here to share with y'all, but even more so for me to have easy access to it in the future.

Christa's Super Easy, Super Yummy Apple Pie

Ingredients:
1 prepared pie crust
4 to 5 medium apples (peeled and diced)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup refined sugar
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup of butter

Mix 1/2 cup of the sugar and the cinnamon in a bowl.  Toss the diced apples in this mixture to coat.  Put your prepared pie crust into your pie plate and pour in your coated apple mixture.  Now mix the other 1/2 cup of sugar and the flour, then blend in the 1/2 cup of butter until crumbly.  Pour the crumb topping over the apple mixture and then bake 40 to 50 minutes at 400 degrees.  Super Easy!  Super Yummy!

Your brother in Christ,
Faron
